TOP FIVE WATERFALLS IN BALI

Top 5 Waterfalls in Bali You Must Visit

While there are many, Most of us will have those white sandy beaches and sun in our heads when we hear the name of this paradise island, Bali. This is true; Bali is very famous for its beautiful beaches, not to mention the hidden beaches the locals are trying to hide from the tourists to keep the beaches unique and untouched. I am going to write an article about this too.

However, first, let's highlight the top 5 waterfalls in Bali that you might want to visit. Less adventurous, you ought to read my article on 8 Hidden Gems in Bali, too, if you plan to visit Bali soon.

The reason waterfalls are less popular among tourists is that they are often hidden and quite challenging to reach. Some slippery stone stairs can be challenging for some people, especially when it comes to going back to civilization. All I can tell you is it is worth it! Moreover, let me start with the list of the top five waterfalls in Bali I think you must visit.

1. The NungNung Waterfall

The NungNung Waterfall is located in the village of NungNung, which is 45 kilometres from Denpasar. A big sign can be spotted on the side of the road. A safe car park is available, so it is possible to visit this place with a car.

An entrance ticket must be purchased on-site, but it will not cost more than one euro. You will find the ticket counter easily just before you start with 500 steps descending to the waterfalls. The Nungnung waterfall is around 50 meters high from the pool. It is a worthy picture site surrounded by greenery and rice fields.

2. Banyumala Waterfall

Exploring the Banyumala Waterfall is a breathtaking experience that requires a bit of effort but rewards you with unparalleled beauty. Located in the Wanagiri area near Lake Buyan in Bali, this hidden gem is a true natural wonder. The journey to the waterfall involves descending 500 steps to the NungNung waterfall and then climbing back up to return to your car. However, the effort is well worth it, as the Banyumala Waterfall's enchanting beauty will leave you in awe.

It is advisable to seek the guidance of a trustworthy local when visiting this waterfall to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Additionally, it is recommended to leave behind any impractical footwear such as high heels and opt for comfortable and sturdy shoes instead. This precaution will make navigating the terrain around the waterfall much easier and safer.

As you stand in front of the majestic Banyumala Waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sound of cascading water, you will feel a sense of tranquillity and wonder. The waterfall's picturesque setting makes it an ideal spot for capturing stunning photographs and creating lasting memories.

3. Sekumpul Waterfalls

Not one, not two, what about seven waterfalls? Sekumpul, which means "groups" in my mother language Indonesian, is used to name these seven waterfalls at one site. Even though I ranked the Sekumpul waterfalls as number three in this list of the top 5 waterfalls in Bali, I've heard that this might be the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, right?

The Sekumpul Waterfalls are quite well-known, but due to their challenging terrain, many tourists choose to relax on their beach beds all day instead of visiting this amazing place. If you decide to visit this beauty, all you need to do is travel to Singaraja, and it will take approximately two hours. The place is well-signed on the side of the road. If you don't want to go all the way down to the pool, ask locals for a spot where you will be able to see the waterfalls from higher ground. However, after a two-hour drive, who would want to miss out on getting wet, right? The ticket won't be too expensive to get help to get to the pool, but as always, there will be locals who want to earn just a little bit more Euros. So be wise; 10 Euros is almost too much.

4. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

We are currently at number four, but it's really hard to limit the list to just five waterfalls. There are so many waterfalls, and each of them has its own charm. Let's head to Gianyar, where we can find Kanto Lampo Waterfall. It's not far from Denpasar, and the entrance fee is only 5000 Indonesian Rupiah. This newly discovered waterfall is a great alternative and easy to reach. It's located at Banjar Kelod Kangin, Beng village, Gianyar sub-district, just 12 kilometres from the famous Ubud Palace. The best way to get there is via the Ida Bagus Mantra By-Pass, which is less than an hour's drive.

5. Peguyangan Waterfall

We are leaving the big island of Bali for a while and heading to Nusa Penida island, a short speedboat trip away from Padang Bay. Nusa Penida is still part of Bali, along with two other small islands called Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, which are often referred to as The Maldives of Bali. On Nusa Penida, there is the Peguyangan waterfall, which is a series of short, cascading spring fountains over a ravine, with sweet fresh water dripping down into the sea. Additionally, at the same site, there is an infinity pool where the water is collected in a basin before flowing into the sea. This waterfall is the last on the list of the top 5 waterfalls in Bali, and it is certainly a must-visit place.
